The Victorinox and Wenger 1981 Soldier Swiss Army knives are a 93mm / 3 1/2" ribbed alox knife, with a 1981 date on the blade tang. This model was standard issue for the Swiss army during 1981. Soldier knives with an 81 date have a hollow rivet, a cutting notch in the bottle opener, and a square box for the Waffenkontrolle inspection stamp. Victorinox knives have a polished blade, while Wengers are matte without visible striations (similar to the 1980 Soldier). Tools continue with some minor changes, on the subsequent 1982 Soldier.
