The Victorinox and Wenger 1983 Soldier Swiss Army knives are a 93mm / 3 1/2" ribbed alox knife, with a 1983 date on the blade tang. This model was standard issue for the Swiss army during 1983. Soldier knives with an 83 date have a hollow rivet, a cutting notch in the bottle opener, and a square box for the Waffenkontrolle inspection stamp. All knives have a polished blade: Wenger switched from the matte blade used on the 1982 Soldier and earlier years. Similar tools continue on the subsequent 1984 Soldier.

Size & Weight: The Victorinox and Wenger 1983 Soldier knife is 93mm (3 1/2") long, 23mm (15/16") wide, and 14mm (1/2") thick. It weighs about 73 grams (2.6 oz).
Colors: The 1983 Soldier comes in silver ribbed aluminum alox.
